The pursuit of happiness
Coming back to the post this is about how parents react ( read Re-Act), when there kids for once in their godforsaken life decide something.
My mom, like any other understanding parent gave me her blessings n all bout the marrying the guy of my choice and I was really impressed with my mom's great and forward thinking ( well coming from a parent who lives in a society where kid's approval is still not neccessary, I would deginetely call this forward).
So I very dilligently reciprocated this gesture of my mom, by being candid and respectful and telling her that I do have a " boy" she might "like" to "meet". Tadaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
And well, that was the last time my mom spoke "nicely" to me.
Well the first reaction was of amazement, she has the same surprise factor in her voice that we have while watching some magicians show and wonder " how did she manage to do that"?
Yeah even she was surprised, that who would in his sane mind agree to stay with me for a whole day, let alone whole life.
So first her reaction was of sheer amzement, then it changed to amusement and then resentment.
Well not so much of resentment but yeah something close to that and all this provided reall entertainment to my kid brother and sister ( who by the way, were on my side and full time fielding for me at home).
My mom's total logic was based on one sentence" what would the people think"?
I was really irritated with this thing, since when did the socielty or "people" overtook in me in this race of "motherly affection". Since when did they shoved me into one corner and took most of the space in my mom's heart.
I think it all started since the time my mom started keeping the "goodday" biscuits for the "guests aka people aka society" and gave us the parle-G biscuits or may be from the time when she started giving us rasna instead of the "reall stuff" which was pepsi or coke.
I just thought to myself that I have failed miserably in understanding parents.
I thought that for parents the happiness of their child is and should be of foremost importance but is it reallly true?
Do they really do care for us as much as they say? 'coz if they do society, people et.al should be the ones they should be bothered about.
Also aren't they going to be the happiest if their children are happy or they going to be happier if the society is happy?
As they say that happiness has to be persuaded but whose happiness are they going to pursue their children's or the society
I really don't have the answer but I guess thsi is what the parents whould ask themselves when they think about"what will the people think".

A letter from Bhagat singh
The future generation of his own motherland.
This should be read to alll the CPM leaders and so called cuurent "leaders" of the country when they are making all sorts of ruckus in the parliament and not letting the country head decide in the favor of the country's welfare.
To:The Punjab Governor
Sir,
With due respect we beg to bring to your kind notice the following:
That we were sentenced to death on 7th October 1930 by a British Court, L.C.C Tribunal, constituted under the Sp. Lahore Conspiracy Case Ordinance, promulgated by the H.E. The Viceroy, the Head of the British Government of India, and that the main charge against us was that of having waged war against H.M. King George, the King of England.
The above-mentioned finding of the Court pre-supposed two things:
Firstly, that there exists a state of war between the British Nation and the Indian Nation and, secondly, that we had actually participated in that war and were therefore war prisoners.
The second pre-supposition seems to be a little bit flattering, but nevertheless it is too tempting to resist the desire of acquiescing in it.
As regards the first, we are constrained to go into some detail. Apparently there seems to be no such war as the phrase indicates. Nevertheless, please allow us to accept the validity of the pre-supposition taking it at its face value. But in order to be correctly understood we must explain it further. Let us declare that the state of war does exist and shall exist so long as the Indian toiling masses and the natural resources are being exploited by a handful of parasites. They may be purely British Capitalist or mixed British and Indian or even purely Indian.
They may be carrying on their insidious exploitation through mixed or even on purely Indian bureaucratic apparatus. All these things make no difference. No matter, if your Government tries and succeeds in winning over the leaders of the upper strata of the Indian Society through petty concessions and compromises and thereby cause a temporary demoralization in the main body of the forces. No matter, if once again the vanguard of the Indian movement, the Revolutionary Party, finds itself deserted in the thick of the war.
No matter if the leaders to whom personally we are much indebted for the sympathy and feelings they expressed for us, but nevertheless we cannot overlook the fact that they did become so callous as to ignore and not to make a mention in the peace negotiation of even the homeless, friendless and penniless of female workers who are alleged to be belonging to the vanguard and whom the leaders consider to be enemies of their utopian non-violent cult which has already become a thing of the past; the heroines who had ungrudgingly sacrificed or offered for sacrifice their husbands, brothers, and all that were nearest and dearest to them, including themselves, whom your government has declared to be outlaws. No matter, it your agents stoop so low as to fabricate baseless calumnies against their spotless characters to damage their and their party's reputation. The war shall continue.
It may assume different shapes at different times.
It may become now open, now hidden, now purely agitational, now fierce life and death struggle. The choice of the course, whether bloody or comparatively peaceful, which it should adopt rests with you. Choose whichever you like.
But that war shall be incessantly waged without taking into consideration the petty (illegible) and the meaningless ethical ideologies. It shall be waged ever with new vigour, greater audacity and unflinching determination till the Socialist Republic is established and the present social order is completely replaced by a new social order, based on social prosperity and thus every sort of exploitation is put an end to and the humanity is ushered into the era of genuine and permanent peace. In the very near future the final battle shall be fought and final settlement arrived at.
The days of capitalist and imperialist exploitation are numbered. The war neither began with us nor is it going to end with our lives. It is the inevitable consequence of the historic events and the existing environments. Our humble sacrifices shall be only a link in the chain that has very accurately been beautified by the unparalleled sacrifice of Mr. Das and most tragic but noblest sacrifice of Comrade Bhagawati Charan and the glorious death of our dear warrior Azad.
As to the question of our fates, please allow us to say that when you have decided to put us to death, you will certainly do it. You have got the power in your hands and the power is the greatest justification in this world. We know that the maxim "Might is right" serves as your guiding motto. The whole of our trial was just a proof of that. We wanted to point out that according to the verdict of your court we had waged war and were therefore war prisoners. And we claim to be treated as such, i.e., we claim to be shot dead instead of to be hanged. It rests with you to prove that you really meant what your court has said.
We request and hope that you will very kindly order the military department to send its detachment to perform our execution.
Yours,
BHAGAT SINGH
The letter si picked up from my friend but nevertheless it captures the emotions of a person who thought nothing is above ur nation. Nothing at alll

Some arbit junk
Ever since I returned from US the work has been justa bsolute crazy. working from 11 to 11 and then going back and working till 7 in the morning ( Fine it was just one day but still i worked from 11 to 11 reguarly) but I finally took out some time and bought a novel on15th august.
And that was not just any novel its was the novel by Shoba de rather "The shobha de".
The much coveted writer, The total authority on high society and page 3 fudas with a masters rather Phd on celebritieism (people who are shobha de's fan kindly stop here the next few paragraphs are no sugar for you, other can also stop here 'coz hereon are just my rantings agaisnt something. All those who wanna hear the rantings may proceed)
Anyways I bought the novel just to get a flavour of her writing and trust i8t left a reall bad taste in my mouth.
The story basically revolves around some 5 friends. one of them, who by the way is hell rich and is a great celebrity (and here we go with the whole celebrity thingy), want to meet the rest. The rest, not being in any way fond of her, still go and meet her and there starts all the drama of recollections, memories and reminiscences which none of them cherishes or relishes but yet all of them just coax each other for more.
Thats it, Yeah that the story, but the worst is not over yet. The main point is that whatever she was trying to spin there I don't no why everybody ended up in bed why each of the experience got to the same ending of bedding people, sleeping around and all that.
I mean either the "high society" has nothing else on mind or the writer herself doesnt have anything remotely to do with mind .
Cummon how predicable can she be.
Anyways after reading that novel I have sweared on aaal the bhavani maa and santoshi maa et al. that I would never ever go by the glossy page.
Some writers are good writing about celebrities' boob jobs and broken relationships on page 15 of times of India. This novel thingy, nope not for them.
Would read my good 'ol harry potter to get rid of these depression that i got after reading that novel.

Night- Mare
It is so utterly prepostrous (yess I learnt it today!!) to even think of such a ban and paint it with the so called culture grease.
The minister who came up with this abolutely funny idea ( specially in the city which is suppose to be the mother of all the call centers) to not let women work at night. The idea was of protecting women from all the crimes ( rape , robbery etc etc).
So this is their solution don't fight the criminal or the crimes but the victims freedom. I think in their view the best way to solve a case is to dont register it (yeah, thats how they maintain low crime rate, low FIR low crime rates).
But this is just as ridiculuos as issueing an arrest warrant for richard gere on the kissing fiasco.
Some of the women whom they are asking to leave out their night shift and sit at homes are the sole bread winners of their houses and with them sitting at home no santa will come to give them some loot.
The government or the lawmaker should have the brains to get this fact.
And the whole doesnt end here, these same lawmakers are trying to give a justification of this whole thing as the culture of india.
They say that its not the culture of India for a women to go out and work specially at night.
Well I have no idea how many culture books they ahve read or how many Phd's they have done on indian culture but am sure no women respecting culture would ever disreagard the right of women to earn or be independent.
And I think modern India is way behind the ancient India and its broadminededness as far as women and their rights are concerned. Never were a women was stopped from being indepent at that time, whereas today if a women independence is marred by such laws.
I am not being a feminist or anything of that sort but by earning a living a women is not defying any laws or going out of control. All she is trying to do is live a respectable life and support her family.
I was reading the various response that people gave in a nwespaper regarding this issue. All the guys thought its a very thoughtfull thing that the labor minister had come up with but all the women considered it to be demeaning which again shows what kind of mentality men have.
We still live ina society where women are comapred to food and its said that women and food are two things that should always be covered.
Thats all a woman means to them. I think its more then the shift- revamping the society needs. It need to revamp the thinking and mentality they live with, this will have more positive effect then juggling with the shifts pf women.

Auto meter analysis:)
Anyways here goes, this post is basically a tiny little analysis based on my experience with the auto and the auto meters.
This basically is for everyone who travels by the auto and feels that why is it that they dont get the same fare for any two autos when the start and end place remains same.
There can be various theories trying to explain the above problem or the above inconsistency of the auto.
Could be that the auto driver too a difrent route, and if there is just one route then there could be heat, pressure, density ( I somehow feel I am just giving the class 9th physics syllabus for first term).
Well in this blog we not try to prick any of those theories and give out a very difficult einstienish theory of auto travel but certain simple observations tied up with each other.
Well to start of with i would like to give a disclaimer thats I am not an authority and its been only some 1.5 years since am travelling in autos and these are just my observatiosn.
So, first of all lets define the problem.
The problem with the varying fare that we get is that eithere the meter is tied up with the axle of some other auto which is running at a much faster speed or the meter is at fault.
Now coming to the pint how does the meter works.
Well the meter works by counting the RPMs and for a certain number of Revolutions it makes it charges 50 paisa(am still not sure how many revolutions).
So if someone has to do some nasty thing with the meter all they have to do is decrese the number of RPM for each 50paisa charge (and that is done by the small wire hanging right below the meter which connects the meter with the axle, I have seen autowals fondling with it, once I tell them there meter is fast).
Now coming to the type of meters
Basically there are three kinds of
- Standard meters
- Super meters
- Perfect meters
Apart from these there are some other genre of meters like paras etc.
A close to 70% of the autorikshaw are non digital meters (This is based on the times I have come across a digital and non digital meters and in this analysis am taking an assumption that the probability of getting an auto from BTM water tank is random and not biased in any way).
Out of these 70%, some 60-65% are standard meters and the rest are super meters.Rest of the 35-40% of meters are super meters and if not super they generally have the name of teh meter comapny scrapped off it.
Prefect meters are generally digitall meters and the probability of fudging with them is very low but that does not means that they cannot be doctored (read this for details http://www.hindu.com/2007/02/21/stories/2007022121760300.htm). We will take up the digital meters a little later, lets now focus on the non digital meters.
The standard meter is generally a worn off meters with lines of time all over it. they Genrally remind me of e reall old lady waitng for her death.
but no matter how much old they might be the auto driver will never to fail to swear by their authenticity.
Anyways, coming back to the topic these meters generally work fine till 2km (which is the minimum fare) then out of the sudden their whole mechanism work on some underworld don principle "Grab as much money, with as less effort as possible". So these meters by the end of the third Km go off by some 2 rupees (which seem a very small amount when written in a blog),but it does not ends there coz the meter keeps on increasing its fudginess with the distance. The discrapancy in the fare is directly propotion to the distance you travel, so the more you travel the more you get robbed. The discrapancy can range from Rs. 5-15 ona travel of some 6.5-7 km (dats the disctance I travel twice a day).
Coming to the second breed of meters. They are the super meters, well the way they run during the waiting time will make superman look slow. They would be fine till 3-4km but once you see red light just get out of the auto coz they just go crazy seeing a red light, and the auto walas slow down seeing a red light gng from green to yellow. As for the kilometerwise problem they are little behind the standard meters as the discrapancy ranges from Rs. 5-8 in these autos, though I have seen some meters go upto 20 buck, but that was on higher distance.
Then comes the perfect meters, more often then not they are correct, well almost.
They might have problem of a few bucks but other then that I dont see much of a problem in them and above all when u see one of these they look so promising due to their digital attire. But that doesn't mean that they cannot be doctored. Its very much possible that even they can have problem, but then again they are simple auto meters, not some nuclear missile luanching timer.
The other meters like paras are generally digital meters and like perfect meters they are often correct (or as the auto driver would say "correctaaaaaaa, madam"). I would give more marks to paras then perfect, 'coz almost 98% of times a paras meter has been correct.
Well the best way to combat all these problem is to mark points and the correct fare (generally the lowest you have come across during your travelling experience 'coz I have not seen a slow meter in these one and a half year) at those points, so that you know when the meter reading is going hay wire. This is for the people who take the same route everyday.
As for the lucky ones, who have to deal with sweetest of these creatures named the autowallas and there coveted meters only once in a blue moon or even less (may be in a red moon) then that, they can follow this:
- after crossing the 2 km boundary try out the dialogue" bhaiyya meter fast hai".
- the autowala would say "By how much (he is testing one by asking this).
- Dont fret, just give some arbit figure (say some 4-5 bucks) and if that right (which would be the case in most of the cases)he will shutup if not he will argue back, then u can take a call whether to continue or change auto.
That's my modus operandi ( and I think for many others in Bangalore) :),
Post script: Few more thoughts from few of the great thinkers of the group :D
But I guess these superheros are the so lucky that they fly or cling to some building or something like that.
I mean travelling is so simple for them, no extra charge, no one and a halfa. Best is superman he can fly wherever he want and he doesnt even has to wait for his onsite turn or anything to see other countries. He can do that all by himself. I fell spiderman is a loss here coz for him to operate he needs to have some realll good skyscrapers and all that so he can only operate in new york or tokyo or some place like that and not in places like Bangalore or Delhi, as the buildings are quite short in the height department, and they are much more spaced as compared to New york n all. So spidy can't travel much in places like delhi or Bangalore.
Imagine spidy going out on a missin in Chandni chowk.Man, its gonna be one messy mission with the fear of getting stuck in parathe wali gali's tents or chauwdi bazars stalls. Then after some time will find there is nothing but a stalls. Poor spidy the mission will fail before its start.
Anyways thats enough for the day.

Moraly right .............??????????????
Well I thought what’s new in that any Ad you see today it has women. Even if its a Car ad or a butter ad or any damn thing a skimpily clad chick would be roaming around with some muscle man ( I really don't understand why are women considered so brainless and why are guys so shallow to fall for that).
Any ways so I went on to read the actual story. Well knowing Bangalore times I knew that these bimbos running around in an ad won't make a news enough for Bangalore times to bother enough, there has to be something else. And Viola!!!!!!!!!! as if they wanted me to be right, there was more and come to think of it so much more, Well to be precise it was the new axe ad that is being aired on almost all the channel and almost all the time, with the tag line "turns nice girls naughty". and prove their tag line they have used librarian, policewomen and hold your breath, A SCHOOLGIRL.
Yeah you heard it right a school girl. Well what on earth the creative director of the ad was thinking and who actually does he thinks he is. Well am sure after that article he must be laughing allowed saying “See, using the school girl thingy paid off. No matter for what but at least people took notice and any publicity is good publicity". I think they should know what exactly is there limit, where are they suppose to draw the line and how much are they allowed to go beyond the line. I means seriously a school going kid should be used as a toy for there erotic ads, just to create some sensation.
He should know that there is a limit to which the ads can be raunchy, beyond that it’s nothing but being pervert.
And this is not the only ad which on with such stuff. And at this note I just wonder where are those moral policemen who have taken the moral responsibility of the whole society on their tiny little weak shoulders. Be it the shilpa-Gere kiss, or the Hrithik-ash smooch, or even Konkana sen smoking on screen. The censor board, the police, the lawyers, the judges everyone just come out with their weapons ready to shoot on anyone who tries to fondle with our culture. Even to Mandira bedi wearing a Saree comprised of all the flag or sporting ek omkar tatoo, everyone had some or the other problem.
And am not showing any disrespect to our culture or flag or anything am as proud to be an Indian and would go to any extend to condemn anyone who disrespect it. But aren't we ridiculing ourselves by shelling out arrest warrant for a non-Indian for publicly kissing someone( And come to think of it I do feel it was inappropriate but a warrant is a lil too much, I mean what was the judge thinking) and taking any step for such a thing.
There is no moral conduct that these guys should adhere to. Well there has to be something that should be done about such people who wont even spare kids out of their fantasy world.
There was an ad recently where snow white was suppose to be doing it with the seven dwarfs (honestly at first I thought it was funny, but then I thought it was stinkingly perverse)
I think no one has the answer about, what is it that is morally right and what is not and who would decide when is it that the line is crossed.

Interesting
It's all about angles !
It's the number of angles. If one writes the numbers down (see below) on a piece of paper in their older forms, one quickly sees why.
I have marked the angles with "o"s. No 1 has one angle. No 2 has two angles. No 3 has three angles. etc. and "O" has no angles

My new phone
Now before I start with the story of my new phone I would like to throw some light on what me change the phone.
No no. I am not the tech savvy chick who wants the newest phone in the market and wants every thing a phone can offer ( I don’t even know half of the things my last phone could do).
So it started when one day out of the blue my phone decided to stop talking to me or at least telling me that someone is trying to reach me, precisely it stopped ringing. It already was not vibrating so the only option I wsa left with was to check my phone time to time and see the missed calls and call back the person who has called.
It wasn’t much of the problem till the person is not out of state as I can always call from my office phone (See not all the things bout working are bad). But then one day the 5 digit button of my phone stopped working.
So now I cannot call anyone who has a digit 5 in his phone number but even that did not cause much of a problem as almost all my number were stored in my phone.
The only problem I faced was writing messages as they used to be without the letter J,K,L.
But even I bore with that as now no one messages me, since am almost friendless these days (everyone is busy earning a living).
So I was still OK with all the above added features in my phone.
But then one fine day my phone decided that enough is enough and when it couldn’t take anymore it just said goodbye and died.
It just went blank, I tried reviving it by switching it on and off again and again but all it used to do was blink a li'l and die again.
and when it finally came to senses it had one more huge feature added to its list.
When I pressed the digit 5,6,7,9 it was getting switched off.
I mean till 5 it was still ok but 6,7,9 too, that moment I decide its time to let go.
So I just went to a mobile shop with the hard decision to buy a new phone.
I asked the guy in the shop to show me some phone.
I told him to show 1200 wala phone.
He said "there is no such model as 1200". I told him" no, no, not the model 1200 but the phone which comes for 1200 bucks". He looked up gave a sinister smile and turned back. He picked one phone and said here u go, “this is the cheapest we have, but this is for 1800".
I said "fine, give this one then",
I asked "what are the features in it" (yeah, that was totally commendable thing that I did).
He looked up again and said” Nothing".
I said "Fine, give this one".
He said "Anything else". I asked him if he had the N- series, he looked up again smiled and turned to take out the N-series models.
I took a look at the n series models and thought of wasting his time (he anyways wasn’t doing anything) but then decided against it.
He asked “Aren’t you buying one” and gave a big smirk.
To which I just gave a shrug and said” I will buy it when I grown up”.
Which I don’t see happening anytime soon so till then its my cheap Nokia will do which by the way I have dropped two times since I bought it so I would it a wise decision.
As for the high phone I think my brother is a better choice for them, so will buy one for him as a birthday gift.
My fear!!
Anyways, this is exactly why I cant sleep in dark.
I am a man who walks alone
And when Im walking a dark road
At night or strolling through the park
When the light begins to change
I sometimes feel a little strange
A little anxious when its dark
Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have a constant fear that someones always near
Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someones allways there
Have you run your fingers down the wall
And have you felt your neck skin crawl
When youre searching for the light?
Sometimes when youre scared to take a look
At the corner of the room
Youve sensed that somethings watching you
Have you ever been alone at night
Thought you heard footsteps behind
And turned around and no ones there?
And as you quicken up your pace
You find it hard to look again
Because youre sure theres someone there
Watching horror films the night before
Debating wiches and folklore
The unkown troubles on your mind
Maybe your mind is playing tricks
You sense and suddenly eyes fix
On dancing shadows from behind
Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have a constant fear that someones always near
Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someones allways there
When Im walking a dark road
I am a man who walkes alone
Good one!!!!

Auto menace-Part2
Once while I was coming back from office, I took an auto usual.
And halfway I realized that the auto meter is not right and is running slightly fast.
I told dutifully told the automata this thing which he very comfortably ignored.
I repeated this thing (pretty loudly this time) when he halted at the next red light. He insisted on the meter being right but I very wisely told him all the statistics about the road and the meters and the fare and the Indian economy and all that and he just gave me a nasty look which was more like "You are cheap, Man!!".
Anyways we moved on and kept bugging with my knowledge of how much is the fare till this point and that point n all that. Come to think of it he showed a lot patience with me :).
Anyways we moved on and so did the meter, so much so that by the time we reached till maruthi nagar (it some 2 Km from my place) I finally decided that it was enough (no no not my bugging, of course not, but the meter's wrongdoings) and either I will take 'nother Rick or walk from their on (yeah I do that).
So I stopped that guy paid him whatever the meter said and stated walking.
After sometime I realized that an auto stopped right next to me and when i looked I realized it the same auto Walla.
He asked where do you wanna go (yeah it sounds scary) but me being me and totally brainless and with all my earnestness I told him my destination "BTM water tank". He smiled and said come I will DROP you.
I looked at him surreptitiously and said I will go by own self (the first thing that crossed my mind was that this guy wants to get even for the bugging I did) . So I just thanked and started walking but he kept on saying "koi baat nahi madam sit down I will drop you".
I was skeptical bout the whole thing but then moving on my impulse I took the auto.
And I was right he kept on blabbering throughout the two Km till my place, but in no other way he did any harm. All he was saying was how meters work and how they can go fast or slow by themselves and also, how the drivers have nothing to do in any tampering with the meters yada yada yada.............. And I still feel that his own little revenge :).
Anyway he DROPPED to my place and when I tried paying him he plainly refused it.
All he said was that I thought you might be walking so far as you might get auto for such short distance that’s why I thought I would DROP you.
I was kind of touched by this thing.
I anyways paid him but it was really nice to know that the world still has plenty of people who don’t do everything for some benefit or gain (if you just write off his small revenge of all the meter talk).
Anyways that was my tiny bit bout the good auto wallas although they easily outnumbered by the nasty ones but they are not totally imaginary.

Manic monday!!!
First my whole boy clock thingy has gone hay wire during the weekend (Again!!!!).
Slept at 5:30 A.M. on Friday so got up at around 6 in the evening on Saturday and thus slept at 8 on Saturday and got up at 5 again on Sunday evening and finally slept for only 1 and half hours before coming to office.
So all am feeling is an urgent need of a bed and my pillow :(.
Secondly I finally finished off “Harry potter and the half blood prince” which I left last year owing to certain eerie parts in it of which I got scared and left. So I finally completed it (Yeah dats wat I was doing on Saturday).
But that was one of the most depressing novel endings I have ever read, Dumbledore is dead.
I cried my heart out when I read that (Yeah am a lil crazy and senti in dat regard). And this depressed me on Sunday as well (well it was one of the reasons).
The third reason is that the friend that I talk to the whole day about everything whatever happens to me or has happened under the sun is not well (has some fever).
So he can't chat and when he finally, did come to chat, I pissed him off!!
So am a little bored (despite of huge amount of work on my head).
And fourth and last reason is that I had to interview people today. This was my first experience with interviewing people and I did not like it at all or rather I hated it.
Yeah obviously I liked the idea of being given the importance n all that but still some how I felt its not my prerogative to decide who is worthy of a certain job.
But then I wondered someone has to do it and well this is my turn to be that someone.
But somehow I loathed the idea of crashing the hopes of someone who has come so hopeful so optimistically that this is the place they wanna be and then 20 minutes spent with someone and all those dreams come crashing down.
May be am not all that strong but I guess its just that I compare everything with what I go through. When I was looking for a job I was really desperate and how each interviewing and each cold response would make me shudder that its gone.
How each time the interview says O.K. or are you sure I use to have a reall tight knot in my stomach and how miserable I use to feel.
Anyways everything has two side and everyone experiences both sides some or the other time.
So I just tried to mellow down the pressure that my team lead was trying to build on the candidates (And I sucked at it)
I think grilling a candidate is a stupid thing to do unless you want him to be working on line of control all the time. It can make anyone might miss out on some of the good point in these grilling sessions.
Anyways it was a different experience and now I know the experience of sitting on this side of the table.

The auto menace!!!!
There's this friend of mine, priyanka, yeah the one in the profile photograf.
She one great gal, one sweeet pal and lost about most of the things.
In our office gang she was the joey of the gang, everything will strike her some 15 minutes later and till that time she will bug everyone bout "what iteez?".
Anyways the blog is not about priyu but wat happend with her.
A couple of her incidences with the auto drivers of bangalore which are more hilarious then serious.
There used to be a line of autos standing right in front of our office, like an army standing ready for anyone who needs to get anywhere in the city.
But when you start asking whether they will come to a certain place (any place for that matter) they will outrightly reject you (yeah reject coz thats wat priyu used to say "itna tayyar hoke ghar se nikalo aur ye log aise reject maarte hai na") and on top of it they will give you such a look as if the place you live is in Mars.
Anyways on one of her traumatic days( she had a long call with our US client) she got out of the office and started asking the auto drivers if they would be kind enough to come to indiranagar(dat's whr she used to live). Be all she got was REJECTION.
By the time she got to the last auto she was totally frustrated and when the autodriver demaded double the money that she usually pays she burst out "Bhaiyya if you wnated to earn money so fast you should have studied".
"Is it our fault that you did not study or your parents did not ask you to study. You just wanna take dat revenge from us by asking us to pay you more money then you deserve".
She went on and on.
The auto driver got so scared and just took out his auto from the auto line and ran for his life.
He never even would have dreamt of such a thing in return of just asking double meter.
One more of such incidences were when the autodriver refused to drop priyu and debo(her roomie) at the place they asked for(dats our office but ofcource).
So she just blurted " Bhaiyya my dad is a doctor, and he never fails to perform his duty coz he feels everyone shud perform there duty well. But today you are refusing to perform your duty. Just wait for the day when you or your kids will need a doctor and he won't perform his duty, then you will seee how it feels".
Man!!! some high funda she gave to the autowala and he finally agreed to drop them wherever she wanted to go.
I guess he would have dropped her to any place in India or abroad or anywhere else :).
Though these stories sound hilarious but it just shows how much people can be pushed around by these guys.
One of the auto driver lost his life because of such thing. The auto driver asked for high fare when the distance was miniscule. The guy refused to pay so much and waited for another auto.
So did the autodriver coz he knw that there wnt be many autos plying on that road and he
can ask for whatever he wishes.
Finally that guy gave up and told this auto driver that fine take the money you asked for but this autowala said no now the fare would be higher then that and asked for another insane amount.
The guy got so pissed he simply murdered the autowala.
well the people are actually losing there patience 'coz after slogging for the whole day in office the last thing that you wish for is a tussle with the autowala or anyone for that.
Apart from this if you tell the autowalla that you will go to the police they welcome the proposal with open arms 'coz they know nothing would happen to them there also.
One of my friend once took an auto which was 15 rupees fast so he argued with him and they ended up in police station, where the police men took the autowalla's side and scolded my friend
That day he swore that he will never to go back to police station atleast regarding an auto issue.
So this has no solution just some go with the flow.

The language barrier??
Today was a real high pitched morning.
But well after listening to a lot of junoon I have finally been able to come out of the bitter barn and currently playing in hay (this is the effect of watching too much phoebe in friends, I really like).
Anyways it all started with me being really pissed with my maid for not cleaning the house at all (leave alone properly or nicely or nay such words).
I miss her everyday owing to either me getting up late or she coming late or something or the other, basically mismatch of timing.
So when I finally got hold of her today I just burst out on her yelling bout the whole cleaning thing, which she out rightly denied and said she is doing it.
Had it being any other occasion I would have just said this and stopped there but today she was lying blatantly (not that I don’t lie or am against lying or anything but it was just so evident) which just totally pissed me off.
It was just too much I just started shouting at her and she did the same the only thing was that I couldn’t get a word of what she was saying and (hopefully) she was also not getting anything that I was shouting at the top of my voice.
We were so loud that the guys living above us, on third floor (we are on first floor) raised the volume of their songs real high (which they only do on Fridays).
Finally she did the whole thing with a lot of blabbering to herself and shouting at me, which I totally ignored (there was no other way), and left.
After she left I too got ready and moved for my office, for which I took an auto, I told him where I had to go and he said fine.
Then he asked me for directions in kanadda of course which I got owing to the fact that it’s been 4 years since I shifted to Bangalore and I do get a little bit of kannada sprinkled with English here and there.
Then when I finally got to my office, he started off about how he will have to go without any passenger and all that.
But he obviously was talking in kanadda so I didn’t bother saying anything to him and left after paying him.
But the thing that struck me was that how people just ignore the thing they don’t wanna hear (I do that too).
But after you come to a city, whose native language is different from your mother tongue, it becomes especially tough.
I mean people start ignoring you as if you don’t exist (which my maid does very frequently, I become the superwoman with the power of invisibility), they treat you as if you a Martian and its no point talking to you.
Also I have realized how much resentment is there in this city against the people who do not belong to this city and this resentment comes in these forms.
They charge you more; they try to fool you in every possible way.
Your fault "YOU DONT BELONG HERE".
One day when I was coming with my friend(who knows kannada) in an auto that guys over something started saying that you guys come here in land earn money from our city, sit in front of computer, what do u know how tough life is for the poor.
I can understand his resentment, owing to shape Bangalore has taken in the last ten years, but still, is it the fault of the people who are trying to make a living in an unknown city, who leave the comfort of their home and come to this city where they have to fight every day with the boss, with the subordinate with the colleagues, bear all the office politics, bear everything goes on , bear any partiality done in and around their office and come back in an auto who tries to take him for a ride (literally),bear his blah blah when he starts off with his tantrums (specially with girls), face the traffic and the people who learnt driving in a park and think they still are driving in the same park and they can turn anywhere they want, and finally reach home to find there is no water or something else is broken and finally make Maggie eat it and sleep.
And these poor chaps are blamed for all the price rise and inflation that the city suffers from.
I somehow don't feel so I think these guys are the ones who are suffering the most.
They don’t know the language, they have a problem in everything right from renting a house to buying vegetables to commuting everyday and even dealing with the police (my roomy had to pay the police just in order to lodge a complain of mobile theft) despite of the fact that they pay all the tax possible (road tax, service tax, income tax, u name it we have got it) and still we are treated as the step children of this city.
Why aren’t we treated the same when they are expecting the same from us???
Anyways nothing would change, we would be treated the same and we would face the same language problem that we always do, its just that this doesn’t seem to be fair equation, as the left hand side does not equate to the right hand side.
One more !!!!!!
one of the most touching songs that I have come acrosss
Here it is
And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
'Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
AWESOME is the only thing that comes to my mind (there could be better words but owing to my vocab problemdats the best I can come up with :D)

HMPPPPPHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate it
And I hate it
I hate not sleeping and coming to office.
I hate not takong bath and coming to office
And I hate brushing in office.
The situation at my place is deteriorating by day.
There is no electricity for most part of this weekend.
Plus this morninf there wasnt any water either(some junk motor wasn't working properly).
Not done.
Plus now I will have to work all day without taking bath which wont be easy as I havent slept.
And if that was not enough someone took my chair and kept some arbit chair on desk.
And to top it all when I have adjusted the everything in the chair to my confort(yes we have the most technically advanced chair with some 23456787654 button and levers n all that) the HR guy came and said "Hi I think u r sitting on my chair"
And wen I asked "how do u knw its ur chair is ur name written on it".
He smiled and turned the chair and yesss hihs name was written onit.
I was shocked and irritated (yet again!!) and he smiled and said "I have been doing this since 6 years" which didn't do any good to my wonderful mood. I meab it's like school all over again.
thats wat used to be in school.
This is MY desk becoz I have written my name on it.
I mean why dont they chain their chair to the desk if they are so particular bout it.
Anyways me will get back to work coz have to take care of a lot of things today :(

Disturbing
I have completed all the things I was suppose to and now am a little free, comparatively.
Last week went very slow though it was a short week(working week, I mean) but still thanks to all my pending work which i was suppose to finish it went at snail's pace.
The weekend was awful. Did something really foolish thing(as far as I can recall) and mostly was bored.
The only good thing that I did was that I rearranged my cupboard which was due since last year :D.
Any on Sunday night I came across an article in my newspaper (My newspaper is the photographic part of the newpaper, full of colors and photos, at least on Sundays). I read this part of the newspaper during the weekend to get away from the regular crappy news which might make u think and weekend is a non thinking time for me. So for the weekend is mostly gossips, who is marrying who, britney, paris, john, hrithik, abhishek etc.
But I came across an extremely disturbing article in this colorful part of the newspaper.
The article was "can child abuse be accounted for cannibalism" or something like this.
It basically talked about the Nithari case where the guy Moninder singh used to sexually abuse kids and women and then used consume them.
It went on to talk about all such incidents. One of them being in Europe, where the guy ate almost 300 people in an year.
The article was disturbing to an extent that it scared me.
How can someone be so barbarous as to eat someone? And it went on to add that these guy generally have a disturbing childhood and are mostly abused during there childhood which leads to such a behavior in their later life.
Can it be an excuse or can anyone possible out that in a court or can any judge actually look at this excuse before passing our the final judgment.
There are around 52% of kids who are sexually abused (yes that's India where kids are denied sex education by the government and their relatives take advantage of it).
If each one of them has this kind of grudge against the society or has such intrinsic tendency then I don’t think so India would have a population problem rather it would be the a different problem coz these 52% would eat up the rest of the 48% and there wont be any population left.
Anyways I feel that there has to be some inhumanity present in a person to commit such a heinous rather more then heinous crime.
A children is the most innocent things and if anyone can hurt them then I don’t think that he or she has any right to be called as human.
And this person is not at all sorry for whatever he did and even if he was sorry it no more makes any difference nothing can change the severity of the crime that he has already committed.
And there was always a first time when he committed the crime and even if he lost the all the senses to know the difference between right and wrong after all these killings I think at that time he was fully conscious of what he was doing and what can be the consequences of it.
So there should not be anything like mercy or anything close to this case or any case involving children coz if we can’t save them I don’t think we have any right to hope for any future leave alone good or bad.

Indian Traffic
But what the hell, I realy liked it, so here goes:
Indian road rules broadly operate within the domain of karma where you do your best, and leave the results to your insurance company.
The hints are as follows:
Do we drive on the left or right of the road? The answer is "both". Basically you start on the left of the road, unless it is occupied. In that case, go to the right, unless that is also occupied. Then proceed by occupying the next available gap, as in chess. Just trust your instincts, ascertain the direction, and proceed. Adherence to road rules leads to much misery and occasional fatality. Most drivers don't drive, but just aim their vehicles in the generally intended direction.Don't you get discouraged or underestimate yourself except for a belief in reincarnation; the other drivers are not in any better position.
Don't stop at pedestrian crossings just because some fool wants to cross the road. You may do so only if you enjoy being bumped in the back.Pedestrians have been strictly instructed to cross only when traffic is moving slowly or has come to a dead stop because some minister is in town. Still some idiot may try to wade across, but then, let us not talk ill of the dead.Blowing your horn is not sign of protest as in some countries. We horn to express joy, resentment, frustration, romance and bare lust (two brisk blasts),or just mobilize a dozing cow in the middle of the bazaar.Keep informative books in the glove compartment. You may read them during traffic jams, while awaiting the chief minister's motorcade, or waiting for the rainwater to recede when over ground traffic meets underground drainage.
Occasionally you might see what looks like a UFO with blinking colored lights and weird sounds emanating from within. This is an illuminated bus, full of happy pilgrims singing bhajans. These pilgrims go at breakneck speed, seeking contact with the Almighty, often meeting with success.Auto Rickshaw (Baby Taxi): The result of a collision between a rickshaw and an automobile, this three-wheeled vehicle works on an external combustion engine that runs on a mixture of kerosene oil and creosote. This triangular vehicle carries iron rods, gas cylinders or passengers three times its weight and dimension, at an unspecified fare. After careful geometric calculations, children are folded and packed into these auto rickshaws until some children in the periphery are not in contact with the vehicle at all. Then their school bags are pushed into the microscopic gaps all round so those minor collisions with other vehicles on the road cause no permanent damage. Of course, the peripheral children are charged half the fare and also learn Newton's laws of motion en-route to school.
Auto-rickshaw drivers follow the road rules depicted in the film Ben Hur, and are licensed to irritate.Mopeds: The moped looks like an oil tin on wheels and makes noise like an electric shaver. It runs 30 miles on a teaspoon of petrol and travels at break-bottom speed. As the sides of the road are too rough for a ride, the moped drivers tend to drive in the middle of the road; they would rather drive under heavier vehicles instead of around them and are often "mopped" off the tarmac.Leaning Tower of Passes: Most bus passengers are given free passes and during rush hours, there is absolute mayhem. There are passengers hanging off other passengers, who in turn hang off the railings and the overloaded bus leans dangerously, defying laws of gravity but obeying laws of surface tension. As drivers get paid for overload (so many Rupees per kg of passenger), no questions are ever asked. Steer clear of these buses by a width of three passengers.One-way Street: These boards are put up by traffic people to add jest in their otherwise drab lives.Don't stick to the literal meaning and proceed in one direction. In metaphysical terms, it means that you cannot proceed in two directions at once. So drive as you like, in reverse throughout, if you are the fussy type. Least I sound hypercritical; I must add a positive point also.Rash and fast driving in residential areas has been prevented by providing a "speed breaker"; two for each house. This mound, incidentally, covers the water and drainage pipes for that residence and is left untarred for easy identification by the corporation authorities, should they want to recover the pipe for year-end accounting.Night driving on Indian roads can be an exhilarating experience for those with the mental make up of Genghis Khan. In a way, it is like playing Russian roulette, because you do not know who amongst the drivers is loaded. What looks like premature dawn on the horizon turns out to be a truck attempting a speed record. On encountering it, just pull partly into the field adjoining the road until the phenomenon passes. Our roads do not have shoulders, but occasional boulders. Do not blink your lights expecting reciprocation. The only dim thing in the truck is the driver, and with the peg of illicit arrack (alcohol) he has had at the last stop, his total cerebral functions add up to little more than a naught. Truck drivers are the James Bonds of India, and are licensed to kill. Often you may encounter a single powerful beam of light about six feet above the ground. This is not a super motorbike, but a truck approaching you with a single light on, usually the left one. It could be the right one, but never get too close to investigate. You may prove your point posthumously ""
